Cards of Charge Campaign
Personalising Data Into a Year-End Campaign
In 2022, I devised an end-of-year campaign to celebrate our customers and bring their energy data to life in a way that felt engaging and memorable. The challenge was to take complex metrics, covering charging behaviour, solar generation and rewards redeemed, and turn them into something fun, personal and shareable.
I pitched the concept of "Cards of Charge", a set of collectible digital cards that reflected each user's behaviour over the year. Working with a contracted illustrator, I directed the look and feel of the cards, ensuring they stayed within brand guidelines while introducing a playful visual style. Each card represented an achievement such as consistent smart charging, solar use or rewards redemption.
Due to limited development resources, we couldn't build the experience natively in-app. Instead, I adapted the campaign to run through personalised email marketing, using dynamic variables to serve each user their unique set of cards. I also created supporting assets for social channels to amplify the campaign.
Despite the constraints, the campaign launched successfully and created a positive moment of recognition for our customers. By turning raw energy data into a fun visual reward, we increased engagement, strengthened loyalty, and demonstrated how the brand could connect with users on an emotional as well as functional level.
What the campaign also proved was that ev.energy could be more than a functional product. The brand had room to be playful, personal and memorable.
